Italian Style: Interviewing the Fashion Designer Felipe Crivelenti

Italian Style has always made a statement in the Gentleman environment around the world.

Italian style is fascinating, after seeing all the trends SS18 proposed on the runways, fairs and shows, we are delighted to interviewing the Fashion Designer Felipe Crivelenti, an extraordinary creative and innovative creator, with more than 5 years of experience working for recognized italian Luxury Brands. He shared with us a lovely afternoon in his most intimate atmosphere, his home.

Fabrizio: What do you like the most about the Italian style?

Felipe:Id say it’s its sharpness due to the tailoring precision of everything that is made in Italy and also the quality of the material that you can really perceive in an Italian finished garment or accessory.

F: What is the actual meaning of being fashion?

FelipeI think being in fashion is out of fashion, actually. I think it was a reality in the 80s, when people would buy a head-to-toe look from one brand, without adding much of their own tastes and preferences, or being creative about it. Now I think, its more picking what stands out to you, even though people are still very affected by mass bloggers or influencers…

F: Quando disegni vestiti a cosa ti ispiri?

F: When you create where do you usually feel inspired?

Felipe: Movies inspire me much. But also just the playing around with clothes in order to create some noise, that can lead to something interesting. Graphic design also interests me.

I film mi ispirano molto.

F: Coming from Brazil, how is the perception of the Italian style in your country?

Felipe: I guess Brazilians see pretty much the Italian stile, as a men wearing a slim cut suit with cropped pants and a pair of loafers. Its more a stereotype than style, but its very connected to elegance and shophistication.

F: What would you recommend to a young student that dream about becoming a designer in Italy?

Felipe: Just being free when creating but still getting to know the product, how it’s made.

F: From you point of view, how is changing the Italian Style considering the last editions of Milano Moda Uomo and Pitti? Mention the top 5 trends that are a MUST HAVE for the next SS18.

Felipe: I dont think its changing much to be honest. I guess there was some excitement when Alessandro Michele debuted for Gucci, bringing fun and fantasy to Italian fashion. I havent seen much new stuff at Pitti this year, unfortunately. Id say the must-have pieces should be picked by each person individually and not as a rule to everyone. For me, I’d say, high-waisted pants, liquid garments, jumpsuits, transparent outerwear and monochromatic looks.

F: Which are your favorite Italian brands and why do you like them?

Felipe: I like Prada, because of the way they put together past and future, making it look so contemporary, which for me is very important. What Gucci does makes me smile and that’s also something I admire. Zegna is a classic for its sophisticated and high-quality product and I really enjoyed their colour palette and volumes this season as well as ZZegna’s rain gear that I saw at Pitti.
